Visas for Foreign Citizens

Uzbekistan has visa-free entry for citizens from more than 90 countries and a simplified regime for more than 70 nations.

1) Do you need a visa?

You do not need a visa if you are:
- A citizen of the countries below (see Visa‑Free Entry).
- A tourist under 16 travelling with a parent/guardian who has a valid visa (stay up to guardian’s visa validity, max 90 days).
- A citizen of the USA, China (tour groups only) or Vietnam aged 55+ (stay up to 30 days).
- Transiting for up to 5 days and you meet all conditions (see Transit).

If none of the above applies to you, you likely need either an e‑Visa (Tourist) or a paper/sticker visa through the Embassy (for study, work, investment, long stays, etc.).

Qatari citizens: Visa‑free for 30 days.


2) Visa‑Free Entry (ordinary passports)

Unlimited duration (mutual visa‑free):
 - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine.

60 days:
- Kyrgyzstan.

30 days:
- Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados,  Belgium, Belize, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China (Hong Kong & Macao SAR have separate regime), Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United Mexican States (Mexico), Uruguay, Vatican City, plus: Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Panama, El Salvador, Nicaragua.

10 days (conditional): Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman (condition: must hold an onward/return airline ticket).

Special notes - Diplomatic passports: separate visa‑free arrangements exist for several countries (various durations). Holders should verify with the Embassy. Minors under 16 travelling with a legal guardian enter visa‑free up to the guardian’s visa validity (max 90 days).


3) Tourist e‑Visa (T) — for most visitors who are not visa‑free

Who can apply? Citizens of the following countries can apply online for a tourist e‑Visa: 
Albania, Algeria, Angola, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Colombia, China (incl. Hong Kong & Macao SAR), Côte d’Ivoire, DPR Korea, Ecuador, Egypt, Fiji, Gabon, Ghana, Guyana, India, Iran, Jordan, Kiribati, Kuwait, Laos, Lebanon, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Micronesia (Federated States of), Morocco, Nauru, Nepal, North Macedonia, Oman, Palau, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Thailand, Tonga, Tunisia, United States of America, Uruguay, Vanuatu, Venezuela, Vietnam, Samoa.

Validity & stay
 - e‑Visa validity: 90 days from issue.
 - Allowed stay: up to 30 days (single/double/multiple entry options).
 - Not extendable inside Uzbekistan.

Processing time
 - Typically ~3 business days after submission and payment.

Fees for e‑Visa
 - Single‑entry: USD 20
 - Double‑entry: USD 35
 - Multiple‑entry: USD 50
 - Group e‑Visa (≥5 people): from USD 20 per person
 (Fees are paid online; non‑refundable.)

How to apply:
 1) Go to https://e-visa.gov.uz/ and create your application.
 2) Upload a passport photo and enter your passport details (passport valid 3+ months    beyond your stay).
 3) Pay the fee online and track your status at /status.
 4) When approved, print your e‑Visa and carry it on arrival.


4) Transit

4A) Visa‑free transit (up to 5 days)

Available to citizens of designated countries if all conditions are met:
 - You transit via an international airport in Uzbekistan; and
 - You have a confirmed ticket to a third country issued by Uzbekistan Airways (HY); and
 - You remain within the 5‑day limit.

This program is designed for short stopovers to visit nearby sights between flights.

4B) Transit visa (TRAN)

If you do not meet the visa‑free transit conditions, apply for a Transit visa (stay up to 3 days). Processing time ~3 days.


5) Other visa categories (paper/sticker visas)

These are issued via the Embassy/Consulate based on purpose and supporting documents. Main categories include:
 - B‑2 Business (up to 1 year)
 - T Tourist (paper) & TG Group Tourist (group of ≥5)
 -  PLG Pilgrimage (up to 2 months)
  - PV‑1 Visitor (invited by Uzbek citizen; up to 1 year)

- PV‑2 Visitor (invited by accredited foreign resident; up to 1 year)
- A‑1/A‑2/A‑3 (Student/Teacher/Academic)
- IS (Medical)
- C‑1/C‑2 (Crew/Drivers)
- INV Investment (multi‑entry, up to 3 years)
- EXIT (for exit after visa overstay)
- Official/Service/Press (various)

For certain categories (e.g., study/work, investment), additional permits from Uzbek authorities are required prior to visa issuance.


6) Paper/sticker visa fees (consular)

Single‑entry
 - Up to 7 days: USD 40
 - Up to 15 days: USD 50
 - Up to 30 days: USD 60
 - Up to 3 months: USD 80
 - Up to 6 months: USD 120
 - Up to 1 year: USD 160
 Each additional entry: +USD 10

Multiple‑entry
 - Up to 6 months: USD 150
 - Up to 1 year: USD 250
 - Up to 2 years: USD 300
 - Up to 3 years: USD 350

Transit
 - Up to 72 hours: USD 40
 - Double transit: USD 50

Tourist (paper)
 - 30 days: USD 40
 Additional entries: +USD 10 each

Group tourist visas (≥5 people)
 - Up to 15 days: USD 15 per person
 - Up to 30 days: USD 25 per person

Note: For e‑Visas, see fees under Section 3. Separate service fees may be charged at time of issuance depending on location.


7) Documents & how to apply at the Embassy (paper/sticker visas)

General applicant documents
 - Passport valid ≥ 3 months beyond the requested visa period
 - Completed visa application forms WEBSITE or Consular section (2 copies)
 - Two color photos (35×45 mm)
 - Purpose‑specific supporting documents

If invited by a legal entity (business, investment, etc.)
 - Invitation letter & application via the MFA Consular‑Legal Department (online form)
 - Corporate registration documents; IDs of responsible officers
 - If visa on arrival at Tashkent airport is requested: copy of air ticket/reservation

If invited by a private individual
- Original invitation letter issued by the Internal Affairs bodies (Migration & Citizenship)
 -  Copies of inviter & invitee passports
 - If visa on arrival at Tashkent airport is requested: copy of air ticket/reservation

Processing time
 - MFA invitation/confirmation: typically 4 working days
 - Transit visa: ~5 days
 - Issuance times may vary; apply well in advance.

Visa on arrival (Tashkent airport)
Available only for applicants from countries without an Uzbek embassy/consulate and with prior MFA approval. Bring the approval letter to airline check‑in and Uzbek passport control.


8) Registration of stay (very important)

All foreign visitors staying more than 3 days must register their temporary address in Uzbekistan and maintain continuous registration throughout their stay.

- Hotels/guesthouses usually register guests automatically.
- Guests in private accommodation must register themselves through E‑mehmon (reg.emehmon.uz) or with local Internal Affairs offices.
- Keep your registration receipts — they may be checked when you depart.
- The 3‑day clock starts 00:01 the day after arrival.

Subject to penalties 


9) Apply for a new visa if you need a longer stay.
- Passport validity: at least 3 months beyond intended stay; carry a spare blank page.
- Overstay/registration issues can lead to fines and departure delays; make sure your visa and registration stay valid.
- Long‑term visas (study/work/residence) may require medical exams (e.g., HIV test) under Uzbek law.
- Border crossings by land/rail can sometimes pass briefly into neighboring countries — consider multiple‑entry visas if needed.
